Locality United States. Tennessee, Shelby: Approximately 10-15 ft from an unpaved trail in the Old Growth Forest; fairly shady due to nearby trees, but sunlight does break through a break in the canopy. A fairly flat area.
Description Alt. 103.0 m. Fairly shady due to nearby trees, but sunlight does break through a break in the canopy. A fairly flat area. Herbaceous perennial wildflower. Green stem, transitions to red at points approaching a node. Stem and leaves have some hair; soft to touch. Flowers have 5 green sepals, 5 light purple petals, 10 stamens, bisexual. No evidence of fusion. Flowers occur in sets of two pairs (two branching events in inflorescence).
