Description:Shagbark hickory. Tree with bark peeling in long, narrow strips. Nuts with thick (1 cm+) hulls breaking into four segments, being much enjoyed by the squirrels. Several individuals seen growing in woods behind the truck parking lot. See also fruit collection. 
Habitat:Florence/Union area. Rest area on southbound I-71/75 just after Mt. Zion & Co. Rd. 536 exit (#178). N 38º 56.303', W 084º 37.989'. Elevation 936 ft.
