Habitat:Devonian New Albany Shale, 1024 feet (312.12 m), Colyer-Whitley shaley silt loam acid soils. USGS Berea Quadrangle; disturbed oak-hickory-planted pine forest. Native perennial, scattered on mountain midslopes and lower slopes; frequent. Associates: Carex blanda, Carex swanii, Carex albolutescens.
